Sunmark Charitable community foundation volunteers at area non-profits as part of United Way of the Greater Capital Region’s “518 Day”
Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation, the charitable arm of Sunmark Credit Union, partnered with United Way of the Greater Capital Region and other area businesses earlier this week to help complete various volunteer projects across the Capital Region as part of “518 Day”.
Volunteers from Sunmark Credit Union spent time pulling weeds, mulching, and beautifying areas at the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area in Albany, and Schenectady Community Ministries’ (SICM) community garden at the Historic Vale Cemetery in Schenectady. The credit union sent 20 volunteers to support the efforts of its foundation, which supports local nonprofit organizations in the credit union’s fourteen-county charter area by providing financial contributions, in-kind services, and volunteer support.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation has partnered with United Way of The Greater Capital Region for it’s “518 Day” event, one that Sunmark’s Community Engagement Program Manager Audrey Stone says has become “ingrained in the culture at Sunmark.”
Stone adds “We really pride ourselves on improving the financial well-being of our members, but also the communities in which they live. It’s through our partnerships with organizations like United Way that we’re able to do that.”
The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation also participated in United Way’s “Stuff The CDTA Bus” event, donating new baby shower items such as diapers, wipes, and bottles collected inside Sunmark Credit Union branches.
