Summer of Kindness Project 5: Lemonade Stand for Ronald McDonald HouseSiblings Brooklyn, Autumn and Brandon wanted to spread kindness to their community by setting up a lemonade stand to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. They shared their idea via a “kindness deposit” made to the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation and Beekman 1802 for their Summer of Kindness initiative. On Friday, August 27, Kindness Crew members partnered with Stewart’s Shops to fulfill the sibling’s wish by hosting a lemonade stand at Sunmark Credit Union headquarters, located at 1187 Troy Schenectady Road in Latham, NY. The event was held between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. in the Sunmark parking lot and was open to Sunmark Credit Union employees and the public. Team members from the Sunmark Foundation, Beekman 1802, Stewart’s and the Ronald McDonald House were all on site to celebrate the collaboration and support the 6th kindness project of the summer. “We were very excited to receive a request that shared our passion for Ronald McDonald House Charities.” stated Audrey Stone, Community Engagement Program Manager. “This organization provides such a light to families during their darkest of days. We commend Brooklyn, Brandon and Autumn for acknowledging that and choosing to do something kind and generous to support them.” For a donation of any amount, guests were given a cup of lemonade and scoop of sherbet – supplies that were graciously donated by Stewart’s Shops. The even raised $650.00 for the Ronald McDonald House – an amount that will be matched by the Sunmark Foundation for a grand total of $1300.00 donated. Kindness forms are available at any Sunmark Credit Union location, or online at www.sunmark.org/kindness. Children are invited to deposit their ideas into the Beekman 1802 goat banks located at any Sunmark branch, or via email at kindness@sunmark.org. |
