SUNMARK CHARITABLE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $10,000 IN DONATIONS FOR GIVING TUESDAY
(Latham, NY) The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation (Sunmark Foundation) announced today its plan to donate $10,000 to local non-profit organizations in celebration of Giving Tuesday. Taking place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is described as a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.”
The Sunmark Foundation plans to split its $10,000 donation into 10 separate $1,000 contributions to 10 different community organizations. Donations will be made to Girls Inc. of The Greater Capital Region (Albany), YWCA of Northeastern NY (Schenectady), City Mission of Schenectady, Pride Center of the Capital Region (Albany), Alliance for Safe Kids (Yorktown Heights), Night Out for You (Latham), Capital District Women’s Employment & Resource Center (Albany), The Charlton School (Charlton), Perfect Ten (Hudson), and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (Menands).
The decision to take part in Giving Tuesday was an easy one for Sunmark Foundation Vice President Audrey Stone: “We always say it’s cool to be kind, and we can’t think of a better way to put that phrase into action than by celebrating Giving Tuesday with an opportunity to give back to some of our favorite community organizations. We take seriously the credit union mantra of ‘people helping people,’ and our foundation aims to aid organizations deeply embedded in the communities we serve.” Stone also emphasized that for the Sunmark Foundation, it’s about more than writing a check. “We have been hands-on and worked closely with each of the organizations we are making donations to on Giving Tuesday, and we have no doubt that the funds will help them make a positive impact in their communities.”
The $10,000 in contributions made on Giving Tuesday will push the Sunmark Foundation over $100,000 in community giving for 2024.
