Sunmark Charitable Community foundation TO AWARD $20,000 to local charitiesThe Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation has announced it once again plans to award $20,000 to local charities as part of its fifth annual ICU Day Awards Ceremony. In celebration of International Credit Union Day (ICU Day), which is celebrated on the third Thursday of October and celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement, the Sunmark Foundation honors individuals and organizations that have contributed their time, talent, or treasure to better our communities, living out the credit union philosophy of people helping people. The credit union’s foundation is currently soliciting nominations for deserving organizations and individuals in three categories. Nominations in the following categories can be made at: www.sunmark.org/icu The People Helping People Award will be presented to three organizations whose missions align with the credit union philosophy of people helping people. Each of the three winning organizations, whose work must be focused in one or more of the Sunmark Foundation’s pillars of giving (affordable housing, food accessibility, financial literacy and education, diversity and inclusion, and/or community development), will receive $5,000. The Susan V. Siegel Community Service Leader Award – presented to one individual who has made a meaningful contribution to their community through donation of time, talent or treasure – is given in the form of a $2,500 donation to the charity of the winning individual’s choice. Finally, returning for the second year is the Foundation’s “It’s Cool to be Kind” Student Leader Award. This honor awards $2,500 to the charity of choice of one current student, 18 or younger, who has made a meaningful contribution to their community through donation of time, talent or treasure.
