Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation Supports KIPP Troy Prep High School Seniors
As part of its annual Summer of Kindness, the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation partnered with KIPP Troy Prep High School to assist outgoing seniors as they transition to college. On Thursday, June 6, members of the Sunmark Kindness Crew provided essential supplies to graduating seniors as they prepare for the next chapter of their academic journey.
The donation from the Foundation included hampers, bed sheets, shower caddies, padfolios, notebooks, and pens – items crucial for dorm life. The goal of this Kindness Project (the second in Sunmark’s 2024 Summer of Kindness) was to help alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with college preparations and ensure that students are equipped with basic necessities so that they can focus on new academic challenges this fall.
This marks the second time the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation has partnered with local KIPP schools on a Summer of Kindness project. Last year, the Foundation joined KIPP Capital Region Public Schools as they celebrated their School Spirit week and completed a project focused on keeping their communities clean. By addressing the practical needs of graduating seniors, Sunmark Credit Union's Charitable Community Foundation and KIPP Troy Prep High School are fostering an environment conducive to academic success, empowering students to pursue their educational goals with confidence and determination.
As the Foundation continues Summer of Kindness throughout June, July, and August, children up to age 12 are invited to participate and “deposit kindness” by submitting ideas of how they would spread kindness in their local communities. Throughout the summer, a Kindness Crew comprised of Foundation members and Sunmark staff will work to bring selected ideas to life. To submit an idea or learn more, visit sunmark.org/kindness or email kindness@sunmark.org.
The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation provides financial contributions, in-kind services, and volunteer support to non-profit organizations within the Sunmark 14 county charter area.
