Sunmark Credit Union Honored with Special Olympics New York’s “Game Changers” Award

 

(Latham, NY) Sunmark Credit Union was recently honored by Special Olympics New York, being presented with the “Game Changers” award at the organization’s Night of Champions event on July 12.

 

The award, which celebrates champions in the community that work to raise money for the Special Olympics, was awarded to Sunmark Credit Union and Audrey Stone (Vice President of the Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation). The honor sheds light on the partnership between Sunmark and Special Olympics New York that began in 2017, with the credit union raising more than $50,000 for the organization through various initiatives since that time.

 

Sunmark Credit Union is proud to continue their support of the Special Olympics New York with their most recent collaboration, a series of Special Olympics athlete spotlight videos, set to air as commercials during the 2024 Paris Olympics on NBC.

 

While honored to be recognized for impressive fundraising over the years, Audrey Stone insists that the partnership between Sunmark and Special Olympics New York is about much more than money.

“Of course we love raising money for the Special Olympics to assist them with the great work they are doing in the communities we serve. But it’s the connections we’ve developed with the athletes and staff of Special Olympics New York, the long-lasting friendships that we’ve created, that continues to make a positive impact in my life and in the lives of so many Sunmark staff members who have had the opportunity to meet and work with these individuals. For us, it’s much deeper than just writing a check.”
