Sunmark Foundation Sends Sweet Treats to Vanderheyden in Ninth Kindness Project

The Sumark Charitable Community Foundation completed their ninth Summer of Kindness project on Wednesday, August 28, treating Vanderheyden residents and staff to an ice cream truck to spread good vibes and kindness at their residential treatment center and community facilities.

Vanderheyden volunteers previously joined the Sunmark Foundation earlier this month to host a “Kindness for a Cause” lemonade stand at the Sunmark Financial Center in Brunswick. 100% of proceeds raised at this location went to help Vanderheyden in their mission to provide community-based services to children, adults, and families in the Capital Region. The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation aims to complete a total of ten Summer of Kindness projects this year as they celebrate ten years of “people helping people” since their inception in 2014. Their Summer of Kindness program began in 2021 and invites children up to age 12 to participate and “deposit kindness” by submitting ideas of how they would spread kindness in their local communities. Throughout the summer, a Kindness Crew comprised of Foundation members and Sunmark staff work to bring selected ideas to life. To learn more, visit sunmark.org/kindness.

The Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation provides financial contributions, in-kind services, and volunteer support to non-profit organizations within the Sunmark 14 county charter area. To learn more about Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation news and events, visit them on the web at sunmark.org/foundation or follow @SunmarkFoundation on Facebook.

Vanderheyden provides services to youth and adults in the Capital Region who have been abused or neglected, have emotional or behavioral challenges, development disabilities, or care for a special needs child/individual. Their community based services include a residential treatment center, diagnostic/respite service, and an educational facility. To learn more, visit vanderheyden.org.
